So the suave diplomat-author has finally decided to step out of his bureaucratic circles and jump in the murky world of politics. Papers say he's looking for a Congress ticket. Surely, at a time when the GOP of India is besmirched with allegations of buying MPs to stay in power, Tharoor would certainly help. Though after technocrat PM, this diplomat could become another punching bag as politicking in boardrooms of UN and international offices does not really prepare one for the Indian quandary of region, caste, religion and language. And if he takes the Rajya Sabha route, then neither is that good for him nor for us. Yes, considering his experience any party would say zaroor, zaroor! but the way he is being inducted into the system only shows how weak our political system has become today. That people like Tharoor do not come up the ladder in a party but need to be imported from outside and then thrust upon its workers, and the people of the country is not something we can feel proud about.
